Massage Treatments

There are many health benefits to massage therapy.  It helps to reduce stress and increase relaxation.  It can reduce pain and muscle soreness and tension.  It improves circulation, energy and alertness and it also lowers the heart rate and blood pressure.  We offer several types of massage therapy here at Devoe.

Warm Lava Shell Massage

Lava Shell massage is a type of heat treatment that uses Tiger Clam shells as a massage tool so it’s a great eco-friendly spa treatment. This tranquil massage uses the world’s first self-heating massage tool, and the heat is produced by inserting a ‘lava gel sachet’ and ‘activator liquid’ into the shell.  This type of massage is greatly enjoyable for anyone with tense muscles, as the heat from the Lava Shells will gently relax and smooth away knots. The Lava Shells owe their magic to a mix of minerals including dried sea kelp, dead sea salt, algae, and essential oils. The heated shells also give off calcium ions, which transfers to your skin during the massage. Calcium can help to firm and regenerate the skin - a nice bonus!  An alternative to the popular hot stone massage spa treatment, the Lava Shell can radiate heat for up to an hour, allowing your therapist to provide a continuous and seamless warm full body massage.  Lava Shell massage can boost circulation of blood and lymph, soothe aches and pains, reduce swelling, and reduce water retention.

Swedish Massage

The Swedish massage is one of the most common types of massages you can get. It is performed to energize the body and improve overall health. This type of massage involves actions like percussion, kneading, vibration, tapping and rolling. Massage oil or lotion is used to protect the skin from friction.

Deep Tissue Massage (Sports Massage) – Not for the faint hearted!

This form of massage therapy focuses on the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue in the body. Some of the same strokes as classic massage therapy may be used, but the movement is generally slower, and the pressure will be much deeper and concentrated on the areas where the patient feels tension and pain. Maximum treatment time is 25 minutes.

Head & Face Massage (Tension Relief)

Our signature head and face massage is one of our most popular massage treatments and is based on Indian head massage techniques.   It is a form of relaxation massage that focuses on the face, head, neck, scalp which are important energy centres within the body. This form of massage is very relaxing and has a balancing effect as it helps to release stress and tension creating a sense of peace and well-being.  The rejuvenating FaceMassage draws on the wisdom of many different healing systems such as AyurvedicMassage, Indian Head Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Acupressure, and Reflexology. It is designed to help relax and rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit while being very beneficial for the face. Your face will have a fresher, relaxed, more youthful and well rested look.  This treatment is very beneficial in the treatment of eye strain, tension headaches, migraines, jaw ache, earache, ringing in ears, sinus congestion, insomnia, disturbed sleep etc. and can be combined with Hopi Ear Candles

Lymphatic Drainage Massage (Restless Legs Massage)

Also known as manual lymphatic drainage, this is a gentle form of massage used to relieve painful swelling in your arms and legs caused by lymphedema.  Lymphedema happens when your tissues retain fluid left behind after your cardiovascular system sends blood to your tissues and organs.  The remaining fluid is called lymph. Normally, your lymphatic system collects your lymph and returns it to your heart via a network of lymph vessels and lymph nodes. When something disrupts your lymphatic system's process, lymph collects in your arms and legs, making them swell.  Your massage therapist uses lymphatic drainage massage techniques to move lymph from your tissues to your lymph nodes, which eases the swelling in your tissues.
